Got mine in the mail yesterday and installed it. Looks nice and seems to work. I have nothing to compare it to so I can only assume it is reading the temperature correctly. The instructions say it should get to 230 which is normal. Mine only got to 220 riding in extreme stop and go and was around 195 on the freeway. Installation was pretty easy with the hardest part being installation of the gauge itself. I twas first time for me to remove the outer fairing. Taking out the old air temp gauge was a PIA as there are lots of wires and it is the bottom gauge. Once I got the gauge in it was a snap. Takes a good while before the temp starts rising. I would assume without the oil cooler it would rise quicker. Just wanted everyone to know it looks just like the others and I am real happy. By the way I have an extra air temp gauge if anyone wants one .

Good deal - so everything you need comes with the kit I assume. I take it you have to install a sensor.
Yes it does come with a sensor. It comes with an adapter you screw in, then the sensor screws into the adapter. it uses the existing wires for the air gauge. You plug one end of the cable into the connector that was plugged into the air sensor and the other into the sensor in the oil pan. You then just plug the connectors where the old gauge was into the back of the new gauge. It took me a little bit to find the air sensor. Like I said tho, the hardest part is putting the new gauge in that tight spot. Oh, it even comes with a few black tiewraps. If you change where you want the new gauge, then installation becomes more complicated.

Interesting about reusing the air gauge wiring. I suppose that to wire it in just so you still want to pull the gas tank?
