Default Rear Speakers

Can you add rear speakers to an Electral Glide Classic? Seems like I saw a kit in the parts book but I dont see it on line. Are the rears worth it?

Hog Tunes sells a great kit- rear speak pods and 4 upgraded speakers with an amp for between $500-$600. You will be impressed with the results. I just returned from a trip around the US and the 3 guys riding with me said they could hear my radio, half a mile back. I was the lead guy. By the end of the trip - they wanted to know how to upgrade their systems.

HD has discontinued the rear speaker kits for '05 and older models though you can probably find them by asking your local dealer to use HDNET (HD's intranet inventory database) to conduct a national search. They also show up on Ebay at heavily discounted prices; often $200 or less.

The p/n's for the EG Classic kits are 77194-02A (amp, four speakers, rear pods, etc.) and 77167-98 (amp, rear speakers, pods, etc.).

You can buy speaker pods from Dragonfly Concepts and eglidegoodies that use 6.5" speakers and make-up your own wiring from the speakers to the radio.

And, as previously mentioned, Hogtunes offers at least one rear speaker kit, including an amp.

Is it worth it? Can't say since I rarely have the tour pak on the bike, and many prefer to add an amp and new speakers to the fairing.

Good luck with your research.

Carl

I believe with the HD kits you needed the stealership to do some eeprom or programming change with the heat unit for allow four speaker. I went with the Hogtune Ultrasound system and it is a good improvement since not running all four speakers from the same head unit.

I was looking at this as well. As was mentioned I think HogTunes is probably
the best way to go. You can find a rear spk kit, front spk kit with amp for
about $420 total. Hogtune spkrs are much better than the stock HD to start
with, you install new spks in the front using the amp, existing front spkrs to
the rear using the radio.

Only neg is no rear volume control and I would think that the front is going
to overpower the rears. That probably wont matter as the passenger is going
to get the benefit of both. Just not balanced sound.

The HD classic radio is a lower power 2-channel. Really designed for just
2 speakers. While you can run 4-spks off the 2-channel radio the end
result will still be not that great. The HD rear spkrs are $440, you need a
additional wire harness, and a dealer download to get this working right. So
cost will be higher. You could also continue and get the intercom working
with a few additional purchases.
