Ok, so I had to sell my bike... Tough decision really...
Wanted just to lower my payments.. But was able to sell it and be clear of it..
So...
I found a 97 UC with 137,xxx miles on it... Clean, good shape... Runs rides good....
Understanding that is too many miles...
What would be a good price to lay down for this?
5000- 6000- 6500- 7000
I have been given a number... Not sure if it's too high??
Any advice will be greatly appreciated...
Friend just bought a 97 Road King with Tour Pak, extras, all receipts from original owner with 40,000 miles for $6500, let this be a loose guide, I would shoot in the 4500 to 5500 range
Get into it with the certainty that you'll probably be rebuilding or replacing the motor.
Start shopping S&S to see what you like.
Tranny, might as well the 6 speed for the new motor.
swingarm bushings etc and drive belt
wheel bearing every 10,000 miles.
neck bearings
I think that is realistic.
I sold my 1995 EG Classic last year for 6500. It had 80,000 miles but they were all touring, no commuting.
Records from new and runs ( still ) perfect.
buyer got in knowing that at some point he will be looking at lifters, so might as well do pushrods and add a cam.
I sold the bike because i wanted to be able to run 3000 miles from home with out wondering what was going to fail next. It's a different matter if you are close to home- so that deeands on what you think you'll be doing with you next bike.
I dunno Brother, sounds like it might be a handful of problems at that mileage.
You'll start fixing and even with a new motor is still a 15 year old bike with 140K on the chassis.
I also agree that that is too many miles. I would have to get it at a great discount, and figure that
i would be replacing the motor and/ or tranny soon., 3-3500 tops.
