When I changed to the sundower I removed the brackets too. be careful if you keep the bags on and watch for the radio antena coax. I missed securing that back up with the airshock line and almost wore thru it with tire rub. DUH.

+1 for removing bolt on one side and bracket with strap on the other. Did this on mine no problemo

Dumb laws make for dumb devices like seat straps =)

I put a Road Zeppelin seat on my '11 ultra...had a new strap, but I didn't want to try and get the original off. I simply cut a new hole on the left side of the strap (where the bolt goes in) and made it a bit longer that way...took about 2 minutes.

Did the same with my SG. Bought a sundowner for the wife to be more comfortable. I got a new strap with the sundowner. I decided to NOT to go with any straps so that I can make seat swaps easy. Plus, I like to remove the seat when cleaning the bike and the strap is a PITA! The wife holds on to me anyway. The strap is useless!

I removed the stock strap when I changed out my seat for a larger, more comfortable one. I did put on the new strap as I use it to tuck my hat under when riding (convenient and easy to grab when I stop).

I took the strap off (and both brackets) and got rid of the stupid screw that holds the seat on. Switched it out for a nice chrome H-D thumbscrew. Now everytime I was it, it takes about three seconds to get the set off.....I hate a wet seat Also switched to a H-D leather low profile seat to help with my stubby legs...and it is MUCH more comfy then the stock seat to boot!

Well, I took off the strap and both brackets. Was a lot easier to line up the mounts than I thought it would be. No filler washers needed the bolts threaded right in. I did find my left bolt was not tight at all as all I needed to do was spin it out with my fingers. After I pulled the mounts and put the bolts back in I put a couple drops of blue Lock tight so the stay in place a bit better. Wouldn't want to drop one of those mounting bolts far away from home.
