Hi, I've just fitted a pair of 1 1/4 inch diameter Cycle Smiths 13 inch high apehangers to my RKC. I love the look and feel of them. They are a lot more comfortable than the stock bars. I've set them to run inline with the forks....I feel that's the correct look. The only problem I have now is that when on full lock either way, I can hardly reach them. They are dangerous because of the fact I am not holding the bike firmly now.
My question to anyone who knows is....what other bars of this height and diameter can I fit that will have a greater pullback than these. I need about 3 inches more pullback to feel safe.
I would just pull them back until they you can keep your hands on the grips at full lock. They are probably not going to be in-line with the forks, but it will be easier (and safer) to ride that way. If you just can't handle the looks, there are other options that are not apes. Check out the Wild 1 Chubby site. They have a lot of options. The RK2 bars might work for you, they have quite a bit of pull back.
Most bars when in correct position are not in line with forks but tilted back some. Look how much backward lean the bars on a heritage are, if like some you try and put them inline with the forks the bar ends are poiting upward. Set them back some and they will most likely be what you need.

Thanks for any replies.
Brian.
Brian, if you check the Wild1 site you will see that their 12.5 chubby apes have around 12 inches of pullback, whereas the cyclesmiths have closer to 9 inches... I actually went in the other direction, I had 16" Chubby's and switched to Cyclesmiths BECAUSE they had less pullback, I needed my arms extended a little more to feel comfortable... I think the 12.5 chubby's are what you are looking for..
