I have a luggage rack so I bought the Deemeed Voyager bag. 75 Liters - which is large for you non-metric Americans. It is extremely light, versatile, has pockets and so on, and quite cheap as bags go. I stacked them up beside the usual suspects but this bag is generally available in Europe and largely unknown here. The website is good and detailed with pictures and there are different sized setups etc. Reflective material, waterproof zippers and built in rain covers etc. We love em so far.

If you want something that works well and doesn't cost an arm or leg look at Tour Master. Absolutely the best you can buy for the money. I've had several and they are well built and last forever. My oldest bag from them was purchased back in the mid 90's and I still use it today.
Typically their stuff costs 1/4-1/3 of the other brands.

Found both of these on ebay (new) for much less. And I used them for the first time this past week for a ten day trip. The daily tour is good for that. A day or 2. The other held everything I needed for the 10 day trip. I was very happy with them both. Make a nice combo for me and what I use them for.

Ypcat - Thanks - I like offbeat items. Great assist tool on the Deemeed website to make it easy for us metrically challenged Americans listing capacity by beer cans.

I bought these bags 2 years ago. Took them to Sturgis and various other trips around the Pacific Northwest and had enough room for all my stuff. IMO a great value and you can send them back to have a different backrest pouch added for free if you get another/different bike.

Yeah the bag I have is reported to hold 100 cans of beer. Gotta love German engineering thinking. It's better than metric.

Ypcat - thanks for the pic. Helps to visualize. I am coming off a 23 year relationship with an FLHTC and worry a little about 'stability' only securing that ... or any other bags .. so low and just to the backrest. Does it work OK?

Looks like you have the same setup as me, a Road King with passenger backrest and the same luggage rack. I went with a Nelson Riggs and although I like the bag itself as far as features, construction and so forth I am not crazy about how it attaches to the backrest. It is okay and once the rain cover is on it is not going anywhere but wish I had gone with something else. BTW, mine is a CBT350 and has plenty of room.
