I got 14,000 to 16,000 miles on my last two sets of Avon Venoms. I asked my friends that ride Goldwings nearly all run Metzlers and say they usually get 16k in them. But the wing's rear tire is huge.

Let us know which ones you decide to get.

Y'all have a terrific weekend!

Are you yelling at me.... Why ?

I have been racing / riding since '71 and the rule was always to run F/R same brand same tire tread desing 407 / 880 etc. F/R.....

May work for you to mix them up, does not work for me as you stated, but calm down , it's all good .......

I installed the Metz... riding today and on a good run tomorrow:

As I type this my rear American Elite has 16,500 miles on it. From what i can tell I'd say I'll get to 18k or so with this tire. I'll advise when i change it of the exacty mileage, but I'm very happy with this for a tire that I save $100 on compared to the D408.

I got 20,000 miles out of the first two rear tires (D408) I had on this bike. The front D407's I got 20k and 26k respectively. But I got sick of the expense of these tires so when I heard of the American Elite I gave it a try. No complaints at all and I'll go with them again when time to replace.

I think it really comes down to riding style. A lot of people who prefer the 880s typically have a more aggressive riding style that warrants the "extra" stickiness. The ones that are getting 16-18k usually just ride relatively easy and cruise with the occasional trip through the twisties. I am one that rides pretty stinkin hard, and still get 10-12k out of my Metz...

Default Choices are each his own

I run Metz on the indian and Avon Venom last time. Both solid tires in all conditions, but you must keep the air right to match what is on the sidewall. Run them to low and the wear in 4500k for the backs.
I have the Conti on the HD and like them for touring around but I will probably go to Avon next change. I have never been a fan of the Dunlop as I have never had luck with miles on them, used them but do not care for them. But when you are on the road and need a tire they work fine.

Wink First 200 miles

No worries, LoL....

Just put 200 miles - all twisty's on the new Metz 880 - Love them, almost makes my FLHTCU handle as good as my '02 Goldwing well ok just wishful thinking out loud......

Had a great opertunity to have some heavy Fog down 84hwy to hwy 9 on the Run for the kids, making the rode's wet, No Problems, big time Happy !!

Could be just me , but with 42psi F / 50psi R riding two up Sunday, bike actually feels 2" higher, LOL .....

So $ 310 otd mounted balance - great tire missed them , now I rememebr why I ran them on my Goldwing....

Again Great Feed Back - I'll update after 2k miles

I went through the same decision making process and posted a similar thread a few months ago. I went with the Dunlop E3s on my 06 RKC. I believe the E3s are different from the American Elites, but I could be wrong. They are a huge step up over OEM dunlops in ride quality, handling and in the rain. As to longevity, I am not sure yet.
