adjusting shift linkage

Default adjusting shift linkage

Bought a new shift linkage to replace the one that broke. I am not sure how to tell when it is adjusted correctly. Is their any way other than trial and error to make sure it is correct?

I have changed several on my bikes and all I do is measure from end to end on the existing linkage and make sure the new one measures the same after installing. That way you know you are not making it longer or shorter and it should work fine...

If it is a couple threads longer or shorter...no biggy. You can always adjust your heal-toe shifters to where you want them. I bought a new linkage (with the 'bolt-on' links) and it was the same length as the old one. I would bet yours will bolt right on.
