My wife and I have a saying that we remind each other of frequently...."It doesn't matter what is happening. What matters is how I am reacting to it."

As a previous poster has pointed out, you let that idiot steal your enjoyment of the evening. Things are always better when cool heads prevail.

Saturday afternoon, I was on my way back from Raleigh to Burlington on the interstate. My band had played a 4-hour gig at the big classic car show. I was driving an Expedition with myself, the bass player and the drummer riding. Also, I was pulling a 3,500 lb trailer with all our equipment. Some idiot young african-american chick on a cell phone was riding the left lane doing less than the speed limit. I passed her in the right lane and, further down the road, changed to the left lane myself. I noticed that traffic was backing up behind her and some guy immediately behind her was flashing his lights, trying to get her to pull over. Well, something must have snapped with her...she whipped over into the right-hand lane and came flying by me and then, intentionally, cut over on me. I had to slam on the brakes (at 70 mph) to keep from clipping her in her little red volvo. It was a scary situation, but it was far from over. After we starting getting back up to the speed limit, suddenly, she slammed on her brakes. The expedition and the trailer almost took her out. To put it lightly, I was PISSED. So, I checked the right-hand lane....it was clear. I changed to the right-hand lane. Guess what....so did she and she slammed on her brakes again. At that point, I realized that she was totally out of control, so I called the highway patrol and gave them her license number, a description of the car and a detailed account of what had been going on. They said that a trooper was in the area (I never saw him) and that they would take care of it (they didn't...oh well). She finally went on and I settled down and enjoyed the rest of the trip back to Burlington. All this time there was a 40-cal Glock sitting in the console.

I could have taken the low road and rammed the idiot but then, my truck would have been messed up and lots of folks could have gotten hurt or killed....the traffic was heavy at the time. It's one of those situations where it's better to let "cooler heads" prevail. Just remember....unlike the biker you encountered, this idiot was intentionally trying to create a mess. My life experience teaches me that anyone who would pull such a stunt will likely repeat it in the future. Next time, she might just run across someone who will call her bluff and put her in the wall.

yes he was and you did the right thing by just going on. Karma has a way of coming back around. He'll do it and be seen by a leo or he will cause a wreck and have a world of crap. Meantime you were out riding with your lady.

Glad it turned out ok

its sure makes life a lot more enjoyable when we can shrug stuff off. The outcome when we don't are seldom pleasant.

Simply put, I'd have done what you did, especially with my wife on the back.

Not everyone, unfortunately, who rides a Harley is decent and considerate. There are still lots of riders who are complete ******** and get worse when in a group. Many are wanting to start a fight as it goes with their low brains and high egos. Best to stay away from them types as much as possible as you will lose in the end, even if you beat his *** soundly.

As many other have already mentioned, yeah he was an idiot, and you did have you wife with you. As an instructor for a motorcycle safety course, one thing I always say and teach, you can't control the actions of others only yours, no matter what they ride or drive.
Some day that moron will do that in front of some cager who will run his butt over.
just my 2 cents.

Can't fix stupid, that's stupid. Enjoy the ride. My wife has taught me not to let others ruin our ride, she's right, it is what it is.

Thankfully the light did not turn green that you would of proceeded forward and you would of run into his bike! The good thing was that you were watchful of his bad skills there....
