Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Street Glide lower fork legs and those on a Road King or Fat Boy? I am looking to get chrome sliders (lower legs) for my 2011 Street Glide. I have been all over the internet looking and I hate to say it but it looks likeEbay has the best deal with some of the exchange programs. Thing is though, I have found lower legs for FLSTF and FLHR with buy it now prices that are less than the exchange prices.. Aren't they all the same front end basically? I mean as far as using a 41mm fork tube? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone knows where I could get chrome lowers to fit my bike for less than $200 I will explore that as well.
Just a thought...but have you tried going to one of the interent dealers that offer 20% off. I haven't done lower legs for a few years, but the last time I did it was cheaper to buy new from HD at 20% off than anything else. Give Rebecca at Tri County HD a call...513-874-4343...it couldn't hurt to ask.
in my opinion, you are better off buying new, chrome is much better and it comes with a guarantee which ebay is real hit and miss, you get chrome drain screws, have new slider bushings, don't cheap out for a few bucks it will show immediately.
don't know about a fat boy, but the road king and the street glide use the same lowers. for a decent price, try ***** shiny. i think it runs about $175, and you exchange your old ones.
I just purchased a set of lower sliders and cans from http://impressplating.com/home.html for my 09 FLHX.
I'm very impressed with the quality of the chrome and these come with a 2 yr warranty on the sliders.
Got a better deal from their website over their ebay site. Searched for reviews on the forum here and all came up positive. They were real pleasant to work with also.
The touring bikes use the same legs. They are different then the softale which cost less. Do the exchange. Most company's offer 2 or 3 year warranty and the chrome is excellent. I picked up a new set of seals, fork oil, and chrome wheel spacers at the dealer. Ended up at about 275.00 for everything.
