Default Black stuff

I want black stuff on my SG. Primarily I want the front end and exhaust blacked out. Whats the best and least expensive way to accomplish this? Do I take my parts off and get them powdercoated or just buy replacement parts in black?

really?

simply compare the cost of powdercoating to the cost of new parts.

The cheapest route is definitely powdercoating. I had the majority of parts on my bike powdered last winter after the riding season was over.

I would powdercoat. It would cost just a couple hundred bucks to change the front end. Try to find a powdercoater that's local and has a good rep and talk to them. Sometimes they might be doing a batch and he will tell you to bring your stuff in for a lot less money than it would to change all the parts out. Good luck.

I kinda figured powdercoating would be cheaper, but I've never had it done so I was just guessing. Anyone out there in the Indianapolis or Central Indiana area that knows of a good trustworthy powdercoating place?

Also...on the exhaust, would powdercoating hold up to the heat? I know Rinehart sells black true duals, but don't know what they use to coat them.

I see your south of Indy, I live just west of Indy and had some powdercoating done by The Powder Pro In Chicago. They are a sponsor here on the forum, contact JRK5892 (Joe) and he will guide you right! Powdercoating is the way to go! If your bike is not running lean and doesn't have outrageous temperature issues, the powdercoating will hold up on the pipes. I just had my shields done by Joe and they look great!

Excellent, thank you. I'll be contacting him. It'll be nice to be able to support a forum sponsor at the same time.

Ceramic coating, inside and out for the exhaust and black anodize for the front end; anotidizing won't chip, fade, etc. and looks way better than powder coat.
