Slippon Muffler comparison
Scale 1 to 10 with 1 being softest 2000 rpm's
1: stock mufflers with stock headpipes (cat) Electric motor 80 decibels
1.5: Stock mufflers wtih no cat in headpipe (not much louder)
2:
3: Harley Fatshotz with Cat (can hear lifters on the hiway (roller-rockers) 92 Decibel
4: Harley Fatshotz without cat in headpipe (Good deep sound with open caps) 94 decibels Open end cap 12 discs per side
4: Rush 1.75 Great sound, about the same volume as theFatshotz w/o cat and open end caps.
5:
6: Vance/hines Monster Ovals (Annoying drone),but I liked the sound. Always scraping on rough driveways, uneven roadbed on corners, with them though. 96 decibels
7:
8: Older Screamin Eagle slippons, slash cut
9: Vance and Hines Pro-pipe (2 into 1 pipe) Great performance.
9: Vance and Hines Basic Rounds. Great sound and performance. About the same as the Pro-pipe in Volume. 101 decibels per V/H 98 with "silent baffle"
10: Rineharts 3 1/2 inch (Loudest muffler in my experience. (Baffles NOT packed which is rumored to calm them down a bit.)
This is my opinion based on personal use with an Ultra. Each with cams, and big bore kits. I found some pipes to sound great on other bikes, but on my batwing version, they sounded differently...I have no idea why..
Maybe if you have personal experience in comparing something on this list with something else, you could maybe share your thoughts on the volume and sound?
Or maybe not....
