I know that I should be managing my safety in a way that would never require me to hit the brakes harder than threshhold but reactions are sometimes hard to modulate under pressure.
Traveling at about 70 mph on a busy highway the cars in front of me went into full panic lockup without warning.
I hit my brakes hard and the bike tracked straight and stopped in far less time than I expected. My only previous experience with the ABS was at real low speed while stopping on a sandy corner. In that situation the hammering of the ABS is very weird.
At 70 mph it couldn't have worked better. Non ABS might have locked up and slid out from under me.
Between the ABS and the Brembo's stopping power I can now tell you that the brakes on the newer models are awsome.
Mine were put to the test doing about 60 in the rain, as I stated in another thread, they are well worth the extra $$$ and I don't want another bike without it.
I agree but.... Wait tIll the Abs sucks crowd shows up.
Never said ABS sucks, always said the panic stop stomp was where the ABS shines, its the uneven canyon roads with the rear brakes modulating off and on while I'm trying to use them that I object to. I still say they are good for most riders and in most conditions, just not for all riders in all conditions. I'd still like to switch the rear off when I want to but be able to switch them back on.
