Getting ready to change out the head-unit and speakers on my '11 RGC. I see lots of suggestions for 5.25" speakers for the fairing, but what is the maximum you can go without speaker adaptors etc? I am doing fairing-lowers as well but would like to maximize the fairing space for sure. Sony head-unit so far with Biktronics controls and will add an amp as well. I know speaker sound is suggestive, just looking for some opinions. Thanks...
I don't know if you can go bigger than 5.25 without an adapter, but why let an adapter stop you? You can get so much more sound and better quality out of 6.5 or 7.25 inch speakers, and the adaptor is installed with the speaker, very simple to do.
You can't go bigger than 5.25" without a speaker adapter for 6.5" or 7.25" speakers.
That said go with either Polk Marine 6.5" or Hog tines 6.5". I've got the J&M 7.25's in my fairing and couldn't be more disappointed. Way overpriced and sound like the singer is in a barrel.
