Default Sena SMH10 - Best Bluetooth/Headphone/Intercom!

I may be new to Harleys, but I am an old pro when it comes to bike comm systems. I used to build (wired) communications packs for fellow riders with "cutting edge" headphones (hacked up wired headphones), two-way radios, and a wire going to your cell phone's headset jack.

Times have changed quite a bit. In the past couple of months, I have bought, used and tested a few different Blue Tooth headsets. I have to tell you the Sena SMH10 unit is unbelievable.

First, the headphones/mp3 capability:

I am using my iPhone as my MP3 player. I can easily start/stop my music from playing, and using the voice feature on my iphone (which is easily activated from the Sena headset), I can actually change playlists, songs, artists, genres, shuffle, etc.

Cell Phone:

Aside from easily being able to answer call by just blowing on the mic, or giving a quick shout, I can also DIAL calls by again using iphone voice feature. With just a simple tap to your headset, it activates the iphones voice feature allowing you to do almost anything you could do with your phone in your hand.

Intercom:

Probably the best feature. You can intercom with four other Sena headsets. The range is over half a mile, which is plenty for any group ride. If you have a group larger than four, you can be linked to someone who may be on a group with another 3 people, basically allowing as many groups of 4 people to all stay in contact with each other....and hey, if you get further than 1/2 mile away, just dial them up with your voice!

The system has a built in priority control. Cell phone takes top priority and will override your mp3 and intercom. Intercom will interrupt your MP3, and your MP3 plays when ever you turn it on.

This system really is the best sounding, best performing wireless system I have seen. I have no connection and didn't receive any discount, in fact, I ordered the dual unit from Amazon. You can get 1 for $160 and 2 for $300.

Granted, this review is based on the the Sena working very well with the iPhone. I don't have any other phones to test with the Sena unit.

Take care and thank you for all the great info and reviews you guys have passed along.

Chad

Just picked up a pair of Scorpion EXO-500 helmets and the SENA SMH10 system. The guy that runs the shop uses this system himself. Sells SENA and the Scala Rider, but prefers the SENA. He showed me both units and agree with everything you stated. In my opinion the system is easier to use and better functioning besides being lower cost. Used this new system on the hour ride home from the shop and it is great. We are gearing up for a 1000 plus mile trip and think that this system will make the trip much more pleasurable being able to talk freely while enjoying the ride.
