I have a couple of questions in doing this. What did you use to cut the bar? I am assuming a hacksaw possibly? Where exactly did you cut the bar? How did you thread the holes n the bar to accomodate the caps you purchased? If you did not thread the holes what would be the best way to go about doing so? Is there a vendor out there that would sell different types of caps to fi the holes after they are threaded?

I know that these may sound like newbie questions but I have never done any kind of mod that requires cutting, threading, etc.. I have removed the support tube and was about to purchase the Cycle Viisions License Plate Bar Eliminator (see link below) but this is just the replacement bracket for completely removing the support tube. This does not help with the strange look that is created by just removing the support tube and putting the chrome rail covers back on. That looks horrible. I do not want to add lights so I would prefer to either get the Bruisers Inc License Plate Grab Bar Eliminator, if they still make it - I have contacted them on eBay, or just cut the support tube, thread the holes, and add some type of screw in caps. Does anyone make a piece like the license plate grab bar eliminator from Bruisers Inc? When Bruisers Inc had a website and they were selling it on e-Bay, it was a little pricey at $85.

Thanks in adance for your thoughts and input.

Also known as the "license plate bar", I think it is 100% esthetic and not functional from a structural or rigidfity viewpoint. After removing it altogether, I purchased these brackets to tie everything back together as the old bar has the brackets welded on:

The "hoop" serves no purpose other than holding up the TP. And a mount for LP. I'll be using the Autogem Shotgun lights on mine.
