I'd like to install the 2up tour pack dock station on the '06 Electraglide Classic. Anyone have any ideas on the relocation of the liscense plate? Don't want to use the HD relocation kit. (Don't need/want some of the parts) Any ideas?
On mine (same bike) when I put on the detachable tourpack docking stuff, I just took a flat chrome piece from and old cat eye plate/tailight combination I ran on my chooper and cut it rectangular, drilled a couple holes and bolted it into the bar where the original plate went. Works great and didn't cost a dime....
When I removed the license plate mount from my '04 EG I attached the license plate to the left side saddlebag rails using a plain chrome HD license plate frame (about $15) and zip ties. It looked good and cleaned up the rear fender.
Another alternative is Kury part no. 2098, which is a license plate relocation kit that includes bullet turn signals and mounts the plate beneath the tailight. It's very similar to HD's license plate relocation kit that sells for $250. The Kury kit is $139.

Which relocation kit would that be? I just went detachable on my 06 EG Classic and used the HD Layback kit #53385-00. No problem at all. Don't believe the footnote about it not fitting, that's BS.
Kuryaken makes another relocation kit that moves the place below the tailight, and changes the rear turn signals from the flat pancake style to the bullets. Just a bit over $100 for the part (not including the option curved license plate holder). It also has it's own light for the plate as well.
I'm probably going to get this piece myself, it really cleans up the look of the rear (to me at least).
I used the Harley Layback Licenses plate kit. Took a dremel tool and slotted the bolt holes a little. Works fine with plenty of clearance for the tork-pak.
I tried the layback kit, and it didn't quite clear the quick detachbracket on my 05 Ultra. That is why I ended up with the Kuryakyn bracket. Slotting the bolt holes probably would have worked.
