Has anyone noticed that the chrome H-D visor for the headlight on the Road King doesn't fit snug. It leaves a gap and looks like crap to me. I never had this problem on any of my other H-D's in the past. Maybe I have one that is just not right. I think I am going to exchange it for another H-D one and see if it will fit better.. This is the chrome one from H-D's parts and accessories.
are you talking about the trim ring visor? If so; they will have gaps where the headlight is aimed on one side. Also; it's a pain to get the gap at the bottom to close tight.
I think there is an installation procedure or method that will result in no crack. Do a search on this forum: "headlight trim ring crack". There were lot's of posts regarding this subject a while back.
Are you talking about a gap somewhere, or the ring itself is loose and moves around a little bit?
I never checked such a thing when I got my bike. But last week when they were installing my bars, for some reason they had the headlight out. I watched them put everything back together and the mechanic kept paying special attention to the trim ring. Even called over another mechanic who I saw grab it and wiggle it. The first mechanic tried to tighten it up two or three times, then finally shook his head and moved on. When I got it back, I noticed some play in it that won't snug up.
It goes in for it's 1,000 mile service next Tuesday and I'm gonna mention that to them along with going into the showroom and checking other bikes for the looseness.
Yup.....there's a gap. I found that if I didn't tighten the headlight bucket in all the way and gave it some room in the seam over the stocker, that it would come together a tad better. This is what worked for me.
I had a trim ring on my 08 Ultra. When I mounted it, I used a wood clamp with padded jaws located at 9 and 3 o'clock and slowly tightened it until the gap disappeared then I tightened the screw at 6 o'clock and no gap. It literally took 10 minutes.
