Is This Problem The Compensator?
Recently when I do a hot restart on my 2009 Road King I get a pretty nasty sounding noise coming from the front left lower side of the motor.
It sounds like the starter kicks back and is followed by a clunk, clack clack and then the engine starts.
It only does it when the motor is warm , like stopping for gas or some short stop.
Is this the retainer bolt backing off.
I guess it's time for an SE compensator.

I agree as well. Go with the SE compensator and be done with it.

It's Not the price of the part that bothers me. It's taking my bike out of service.
I guess I need the compensator.
Primary cover gasket
Oil, and a grinder to remove the lip.
anything else.
15,000 miles, Time to service it anyway.

Yep,just have to find a good dealer/service writer that agrees with you.Then the insurance co. has to approve the claim!
Plus the ins. co. will probly only spring for a stock comp.,I would guess.
