Default Ape Hanger Width??

Hi All,

I bought a set of Carlini Gangster Apes. 1.5" thickness, 14" tall, and 41" in width!!! I saw it on the bike and was thinking "man that will kind of make my arms really far apart.." Anyone else think that 40" is a lot of distance between the two grips on apes? Maybe it's a good thing, I don't know, just seems like a slightly odd setup.

My buddy's got the same bars, only 18's. I never measured, but I am pretty sure they're no where near 42" wide....

Well, that's 41'' end to end. The grips will be just right. I've sat on my buddy's bike, and they were realllllly comfortable.

They run different widths on the bars depending on if you get the 1.5 or 1.25 diameter. I'm sure it's done for looks moreso than anything else.

Ok, yea i just saw that on their website. For the 1.25" the width is 36.5" compared to the 1.5" being 41". I'm confused as to what would be the reason for this, and which would be more comfortable. I guess 2.25 inches per side isn't drastic sounding, but when it comes to ergonomics, inches definitely make a difference.. Thoughts? Wondering if I should exchange them for the 1.25".

That's good to hear! You don't feel like your arms are too far outward, or get sore?

I am specifically buying a set from LA Choppers just because they are 40 inches wide. MY reasoning is because I am 285 lbs and my shoulders are as wide as your average NFL Linebacker and need them that far apart. If I was a little guy, yeah that would probably be excessive

The first hour I rode with them kinda felt odd, but I quickly got used to them & they're very comfortable.
