Just returned from a 900 mile + ride. The dashboard instrument lights, cruise control, and turn signals all failed. Any ideas? The CC orange/green indicators do not appear. The CC was working and failed while using it. Not sure if the turn signals failed at the same time, assume so.
I had a sidecar installed. The sidecar includes a running/brake light and a separate turn signal. All was working when I pulled out of the dealer and stopped working 50 minutes down the road. That was 450 miles back. They are in KY I am in Chicago.
Bike is under warranty, but the sidecar may be a problem. They prefer the bike without the sidecar (rig is 84" wide, takes up a lot of real estate and won't fit through their primary service doors).
I will check the fuses before work tomorrow. Our HD guy said it might be a circuit breaker under the seat. Turns out the cruise, turn signals, and brake lights are not working. I popped off the seat, but could not find the circuit breaker in question and not sure whether it is resetable or simple replaced.
There are no circuit breakers on the 2011 FLHTC...It sounds like you have blown a fuse...To access the fuses you will need to remove the left side cover...You will see a 40 amp maxi fuse to the left of that you will see a plastic fuse panel cover with a guide to the fuse circuits...My first guess would be your accessory fuse.
It was the Accessory (Slot #2) 15A fuse. Not sure why this fuse would take out the brake lights and turn signals. I assume it is the fuse handling the cruise control. I don't have a spare fuse so need to head out to auto zone...I did try a fuse from another slot and sure enough, everything seems to work (could not engage the cruise control, but the switch indicator works.).
Turns out the wiring harness they installed between the bike and the sidecar was left flapping in the wind and it wore through the sheath and insulation, shorting a wire to ground. For the cost of a zip tie this could have all been avoided.
