when your bike is on a stand, how many rotations can you get on the wheel before it stops..
im trying to figure out if i have excessive brake drag or not.
i know my buddies 07 would only do about 1 and half rotations before it stopped, i thought was kind of low..
i can get about 3 full rotations on mine before it stops
Thats pretty good, I havent spun mine recently but I would say that 3 spins almost sounds like the brakes are wore pretty good depending on what you mean by "giving it a pretty good spin". There is supposed to be some drag from the brakes.
yeah i know there is some drag from the brakes, but just wanting to know what excessive drag is on these bikes. seems like harleys have less free spin then other bikes i have had, just trying to make sure its me being over **** about it rather than it being something i need to look in to.
You definitely don't need to be worrying about it. 3 rotations is plenty.
I wouldn't be worried unless the was a real bind that you could feel by hand - Something like a quarter or half turn or less is when I'd start looking for a problem. And then, the most likely cause would be a caliper piston hanging up.
My '11 has 2900 miles and I cant get it to spin at all. ABS might not help. I can hear things "dragging" when I shut the bike down and coast into the spot.
don't worry about how many spins you can get out of your tire. what you need to worry about is how hot does your rotor get? if you can ride around the block, not touch your front brake, and your rotor is hot to the touch, then you have a problem.
