That is possible I guess, but I have the Power Vision Fuel Management System and it does not recognize any problems with the ECM. I reloaded the stock tune and then back to the custom tune again. If the circuit wa fried, then wouldn't it have just quit immediately and not over a period of about 30 minutes?
Very possibly true, and like I said, ecm is usually the last thing I check anyway.
The fuel pump is charging when turned on. I did open the fuel tank and look inside when I turn on the fuel pump. I appears that there is some misting going on when the pump is running. My guess is that there is a hole in the line inside the tank or the fuel filter.
Thanks Zach. I will pull the pump and filter out of the tank tonight. Let me ask you something first: Do all my symptoms match up with this problem, like the bike sputtering for a while and then just not cranking at all?
Yep. Your fuel pump is pressurizing the system, but the leak is allowing that pressure to escape. Fuel injection relies on high pressure to atomize the fuel at the injector nozzle. Not saying there isn't something else going on, but my money is on that leak in your tank.
Any chance you are still under warranty? Pretty sure they would cover those.

I just had this problem with mine however it was more progressive, it would run lean but keep running, but what gave it away was when I realized that the problem got worse when the fuel tank would get below 1/4 tank. Then it was hard to start, lose power, and PING real bad. You symptoms seem more extreme.
It turned out to be the line that comes up from the bottom of the tank and connects to the pressure regulator. Mine had two hole in it with visible wearing from rubbing on the inside of the tank.
It comes as an assembly with a new fuel line and "Quick Disconnect" and is about $55.
My bike is a 2009 with about 6500 miles. I bought it from a guy I know a few months ago. Right now it is on half a tank. The whole thing happened over about 15 to 30 minutes. It was running good, started sputtering, then just quit and will not crank. I looked in my service manual and it gave some troubleshooting information. I was able to eliminate some of the list immediately, but it still leaves many other items to check. A total of 37 items. I am going to check several items tonight, but I may end up taking it in to the dealer depending on what the service tech says over the phone.
I agree with the possible fuel lines...just happened to my buddies EG, replaced the lines and runs like a champ. Same symptoms, wouldn't idle, died, coughed, backfired...had us puzzled in the beginning.

With only 6500 miles, I would be surprised if it was the lines, and the fact that it happened all at once, I am kinda of at a loss.
Good luck, hope you find it soon!
Had the same problem with mine and turned out to be the ECM ground, needless to say I had to get a new ECM. If you or anyone has unplugged to ECM 10 or so times its breaking down the connections. I had all the pins replaced on mine and since then there has been no issues.

The ECM has never been unplugged. I have however used the satellite plug a few times with my Power Vision and the Digital Tech. I pulled everything out of the tank last night, fuel pump, fuel filter, sensor, hoses, etc. I checked all the fuel lines and none of them had holes. I checked the filter and it does look dirty. I tried a pressure test with the filter and air was slow to move past, but it still moved past. Before I removed everything from the tank, I checked again for the misting when turing on the pump. There was definitely some fuel mist. I am just wondering if that has to do with the filter? 6500 miles and the filter should be ok. I am pulling the breather and checking the throttle body today. I also plan to change the spark plugs. I don't know, it may be best to carry this in to Terry at BB HD. He is a damn good mechanic.
