If it's under warranty they will pay for a rental!
Where is your dealer ? My 2010 SG was down for almost 2 months this summer with a restricted part ( induction module ). Dealer would not give me a rental, no loaner, and when I bitched all the way up the corporate ladder with Harley, they literally told me to pound sand ! WTF !
PM returned. Just so you know, doing it the way I described you will not have to change your belt. You will need to get the Dakota Digital part number SIM-1 to recalibrate your speedo and that part works flawlessly. Just do not put your starter back in after you pull the primary until you have the Dakota Digital part installed as it needs to be hooked up at the speed sensor which is under your starter. The only thing is that when you re callibrate your speed, you will lose your 6th gear light. In the end however, it is well worth the trade off IMO.
I rode the bike I did this on and at 65 mph before the swap in 6th gear it was doggy and running about 2350 rpm. After the pulley swap on front and back, it ran about 2750 rpm at 65 and you can just roll on the throttle and pick up speed pretty easily. Hope this info helps and if you have any more questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
Bike is in the shop, and as suspected the main output bearing was trashed. What was not expected is that the inner splines on the clutch hub was trashed as well, the weird part is the 1st inch is all that was damaged. weird.
The worse news is that the stock clucth hub is backordered until Nov 11. So I talked them into a screaming eagle unit and me pay the difference.
Another side note, the SE compensator I installed three months ago already shows wear on the spokes......
It's been beond Frustrating for me with all of the issues I've had with my '09 UC. It's only got 17,000 miles on it and I just haven't been all that interested in taking any long trips. I've had to use my Hog memebership hauling services twice in the last year and a half.
Finally got her back last week. Stock clutch basket inner spline was trashed. Stock unit backordered, went with SE unit and paid difference, installed the 30 tooth sprocket and belt was too long......
Anyway, the bike runs like a raped ape, the gearing change works very well with the 574 cams, 100 mph comes very quick, 120 soon thereafter and still pulling.
The SE race clutch is a bear though, my left arm will soon look like Popeyes, it is adjustable though, I will tinker with that this week.
