Last time I rode in the winter worrying about salt on the rode slid under a cage who decided a red light meant Go. LUCKY is an understatement Cage had a lifted suspension, Cracked Faring, busted Bag and various abrasions. Checked the shorts as well...To scared to even fill them .... Oh the salt .... Go hose down dry it off and put it in the heated garage

I would wash it imediately and put it away until spring, honestly. On my first harley I tried to be a tough guy and ride my bike off and on all winter until I road on a salty road. You will regret it, trust me, any little scratch or nick in the pipes and chrome become an instant rust spot, not to mention the corrosion it causes on everything else. I always get a kick out of these guys that say just to ride it all year long, they have obviously never been through a minnesota winter. When the salt on the roads is deeper than the snow, you know the MN-DOT is doing their job. LOL. Honetly if they are dumping salt on the roads, its time to call it a season. Unless you dont mind a rusty Harley that is.

I live in the land of salt. It's called Chicago land.
The fu(kers around here put down more salt that the happy chef uses in cooking potatos.

My bike is now 8 years old. I try to ride every month. I HAVE ridden on salty streets many times. Washing it off will help. But reqardless of what you do your over reacting.
Personally I purchased mine to ride. Ride every time I get a chance. If that happens to be when there is a layer of white stuff on the roads I ride more carefull. Salt is like sand. it's slippery. But guess what? My bike stll has the paint and chrome on it. What do you think people that live on the right and left coast do? Park their bikes because of salt spray?

I bought mine to ride too, but I would at least like for it a year old before I start seeing any rust. The day I bought it it came one hell of a thunderstorm to ride home in and some of the phillips head screws that trapped water had rust in them 2 days later.

I would suggest you use cold water to wash any salt residue off, then finish of with hot. ACF-50 seems to help a lot, not cheap but it has worked on other bikes.

Wash after every salty ride and dont be tempted to leave it till tomorrow.

I know a bit about salt living in the UK where they dump the stuff by the tonne at the mere mention of a frost.

However these days I tend not to ride on salted roads.
