Skyline Drive
Anyone live in the area of Skyline Dr....Coming down from Jersey on Sunday and was wondering if the leaves are turning yet.....Weather looks good so far....

I figured as much but it's still a nice ride and maybe I'll see another bear cross the road. That made the trip for me last year. Small things make me happy!!

Hopefully it will move out with the cold front coming in....Keeping my fingers crossed....

Are you saying that the fog actually goes away sometimes? I thought it was permanent. Still one of the greatest rides in the US.

The temperatures are going to be coming down about 20 degrees in the next few days in Northern Virginia, so Skyline Drive will probably be in the 50s and 60s during the day time. Everything was green out towards Winchester last weekend.
During the fall, on weekends I get on Skyline Drive early in the morning. I have seen mile long backups getting on Skyline Drive at Front Royal around noon on a Saturday in October.

I grew up in Front Royal.
Your a bit early for the leaves. Typically Oct 7-10 is peak color.
I prefer evenings. to start up the drive. a 7ish departure from Front Royal is after most get dinner and you get to watch the sun set as you cruise south.
I was just north of the Thornton Gap lodge and saw two bears 3 weeks ago.
Good luck and stay safe.
