I will be riding the Asheville, Maggie Valley area the last week of September and plan on staying about 4 or 5 days. Where would be the best place to stay and ride out of everyday? How is the weather this time of year? Must rides? Places to stay and eat?
If you are more than 1 couple you might want to look into a cottage...we just came back.... www.carolinamountainvacations.com just outside of Cherokee and you can pick them by # of rooms, bike friendly, WIFI, hot tubs etc...Way better than a hotel if you ask me...
Close to Cherohala Pkwy, HWY28, Deals gap (tail of the dragon), 209 to hot springs, Foothils parkway, Blue ridge parkway....If you are military or retired you get a discount also....We were 2 couples with 3 dogs and it ended up costing us $110 per night... only because we had a 3 bedroom after somebody had to cancel because of damages due to Hurricane Irene to their house...Last year was about $75 per night.
If you want a nice clean place check out www.applecoverinn.com heard some good things about them.
Definitely check out the Wheels Through Time Museum. Check out http://www.clarketonmotel.com super nice people who are also rider's and they have really low rates.
Stayed in Maggie Valley 5 days this past July, had a great time. Very easy to set up home base for a week, small town home feeling. You can do all the day trips you want to from Maggie Valley and be home in time for some good eats and COLD BEER! Be sure to hit the Wheels of Time Museum and The Biltmore. They are both worth the time and Money!!!
Joey's Pancake House in MVP for breakfast. Good food, get there early. Maggie's Gallery in Waynesville for seafood.. Excellent food, old rustic small cabin setting... Headed to both in the morning. Nine bikes altogether, rain or shine. Smoky Falls Lodge or Jonathan Creek Inn are both in MVP for lodging...
