Default lowering

Hello,

I'm hoping to help those who wants to sit lower on the bike and posting this.

I have a 2010 FLHX and the stock seat was way too high for me.
So the first thing I did was the lowering block. The least expensive and easy fix.
I was ok with it, but I have noticed that the shocks where hitting the rear passenger backrest bracket, due to the change in the angle of the shocks mounted.

So I got the Burly shocks (10.5") and the bike sits low but I like it REALLY low.

The next thing I did was to lower the front. I installed the lowering kit by Burly, the drop in fork lowering thing. The instruction didn't call for the provided spacers to be installed on my bike. So I put it together as instruction suggested. Boy, it slammed the biike!

I really like the fact that I could reach the ground w/ confidence, I didn't like the fact that kickstand was dragging way too easily on the left turns. So I ended up putting the provided 3/4" spacers in the forks. It raised the front by 3/4" and it doesn't look TOTALLY SLAMMED now, but it sits low.
It also eliminated the front end dive on braking, which I really like.

I HAVE NOTICED MORE OF SEAT HEIGHT CHANGE WHEN I LOWERED THE FRONT OF THE BIKE, SO ANY OF YOU WHO'S LOOKING TO LOWER THE SEAT HEIGHT, I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND LOWERING THE FRONT, IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE IT YET!

There's only so much you can lower in the back of SGs, and I wish I had done the front lowering sooner!

Hope this helps.

Default Kickstand issue

Oh, I forgot to mention about the lean angle issue that comes along w/ lowering the bike.

I have ground off the bracket a little and it was fine, that was until I lowered the front. I ground off a little more when I did the front lowering, but wasn't quite happy. So I ended up just putting some washers between the kickstand bracket and the frame and it took care of the issue. The best part of it is that it only took me a trip to a local hardware store and less than $1.00!!

I understand from a few riders that you can have a ground clearance issue after lowering also.
