I think that Dan's point is that he doesn't like being forced to listen to other people's loud activities.
I took the Advance Rider's ERC this summer. It was taught by an anti loud pipe LEO. He claimed that deer were not scared by loud pipes and that you could scare them better with loud music. I think he is wrong on both counts.
