Default Front wheel allignment Question - brake drag

Since I pulled my wheels for a tire change, my front brakes are dragging a lot more then they used to. When re installing the front wheel, I followed the Service manual's instructions.

2 things: I did not have a 7/16 drill bit, so I used a 7/16 allen key to align the right fork. I did this with the wheel on the ground.

Could using the allen key have put me out of alignment? should the front wheel be lifted up with no weight on it or down on the ground with the weight of the bike fully on it when aligning it? or doesn't that matter?

I dont use the drillbit at all. I let the fork go against the spacer and torque the axle nut, then torque the pinch nuts. Never had a problem doing it that way.

Any one know if the alignment should be done on the ground or on the jack? I'm going to start from scratch tomorrow, and re install everything.

Clean the calipers if you didn't do it the first time...

On 08 and up Bikes (Bembo Brakes) do NOT use the drill bit , To fix it, lift the bike up off the ground loosen up the fork caps let the forks and axle line it self. Trust me I had to replace a Rotor because of it.

I realigned everything today, This time on the jack. I bought a 7/16 drill bit, and with it off the ground, it was lined up, did not have to pull the fork. While I was at it, I pulled my brakes and sprayed my calipers really good with brake clean. Wheel spins like normal now.
