Default against theFront wheel spacer

After putting my front wheel back on I noticed that between the spacer and the forkon the right side there is a small space where as on the left side it seems to be touching the bearing and the fork. Is this normal and if so why? Thanks. {didn't notice before removing}

Did you put a 7/16 drill bit into the hole on the right side of the wheel axle when you tightened up the axle nut?

If i remember correctly, there is a left and a right to the spacers. one is about 1/16 in smaller (narrow) that the other. I cant remember which goes where, but if they are not on correctly, the wheel is almost impossible to turn as it puts the brake rotor in a bit of a bind with the calipers. I suggest removing the spacers and putting them on your work bench, see which one is taller. The service manual states which goes on which side.

The RT side spacer has a machined edge which is smaller in diameter than the spacer.When viewed it looks as if it isn't tight against the wheel hub and the fork.Look at it closer and you will see.This is the RT side sitting on the bike,not viewing it from the frt of the bike.If I remember right,this machined edge goes toward the wheel brg.

There is a shoulder on the right side spacer. According to the picture in the Workshop Manual it goes against the fork leg. I noticed this too, and thought the wheel was loose. That's when I did some further checking. Page 2-7, Figure 2-7.

Thanks for input. I did put 7/16 drill bit thru axle. I was pretty sure I kept the spacers seperate so as to install same way but still looked odd to me. I have a few bros at work who ride roadkings and had them look at theirs today. Both said it looked like there was a space between fork andspacer on rt. side but left was tight. Wheel turns fairly easy with just the normal pad on rotor noise. I will probably take back apart to check spacers to ease my mind. Only takes a little time.
