I'm not sure what would cause that. It isn't the app, it has to be something else. All the app does is pull the coordinates from the GPS in your phone and then query Google maps.

Anyone else having this problem?

First of all, thanks for all of the "thumbs up" and positive comments. I really appreciate it.

I wanted to write a post about the state of the app because I made some big progress and I am excited about it. It snowed here over my days off, so I got to sit around in my pajamas drinking coffee and learning Java.

I basically had to start over from scratch and re-do the whole thing. There are a lot of reasons why, and I won't bore you with a bunch of geek stuff, but it has cut the size of the app to less than a third of what it was. It will take up less space on your phone, and it will run faster, and look better. I think that it is really starting to look like a professional job now.

The downside is, I am not going to add any new features for the next version. It is too much work to add more stuff right now, I need to re-think how the menus and submenus should be set up. I still want to hear your ideas and suggestions though, so keep 'em coming.

I really need some beta testers. vtwinbmx has been great about helping me, but I need to test this thing on several different handsets before I put it in the Market, particularly since this is a complete re-write. Please send me a pm with your email if you are willing to help me out.

Here is a screenshot of the new version.

Looking good. I'll keep on testing for you no problem. The old version worked perfect. I'm sure the rewrite will be just as amazing

Nice little app. I wasn't aware of the security pin overide. How do I setup my pin in the first place, or is it a factory setting?

The dealer should have set it up for you when you bought your bike. If he didn't, or you don't remember it, just go through the PIN Reset procedure and you can enter a new code.

Default Works okay on my G-1

I just installed it on my G1 running firmware 1.6. It is a little slow and takes several seconds to load but probably my phone. One question. Why doesn't the find a dealer work off the GPS? I click the link to use current location but I get dealers from other parts of the country.

Nice app though! Thank you!

It is slow because of the way it was written. I think the next version will be much faster.

I get more questions about the dealer finder than anything else. The dealer finder isn't really "in" the app. The app links to Harley-Davidson's mobile web site which hosts the dealer finder.

Check to make sure that your phones GPS function is turned on. If you still have a problem, you will have to contact the web master for Harley.

Just downloaded. Looks like a great app. It would be nice, if using the "back" button on the phone didn't take you all the way out of the app. I know you have a "back" button in the app, but it's not always convenient. I read about some of the suggestions for adding maintenance records, etc. That would be great. I'm using an app called Carango, for that, but it's lacking some things. It does calculate mpg. I'd like to have my VIN, Lic, Insurance info, tire sizes, inspection due date. Maybe link the odometer in the mpg calculator, to reminders for oil changes and other maintenance. You might take a look at an app called aCar for some ideas. I think you're on to something. I've been looking for an app like this, for over a year.
