Friend of mine just got a 2012 Street Glide, and then bought the detachable tour pak to put on the back. He's wondering if a stock Ultra seat would work with this set up, as he likes the feel of it on my bike. He's low on cash now, so we're trying to find a stock seat that would provide his passenger a little more padding, and work with the tour pak when it's on the bike.
Can anybody confirm the Ultra seat will work? And, what years of Ultra seats he should be looking around for? Thanks.
yup, seat from an FLHTCU ultra or FLHTC classic 09 and newer will work as they share the frame.
I have an 09 FLHTC
I use the ultra seat when touring, SG seat or brawler solo seat in town.
and I swap windscreens to match the height of the seat.
buy cheap "take off" windscreens you can cut the bottom edge to desired height with a rotozip, and the bottom edge is hidden from sight.
i also use SG shocks in town and swap to "ultra" shocks when touring higher for cornering and obstable clearance and more shock travel
the classifieds here are a good place to shop if you don't see on your local craigslist

I loaned a friend my Ultra Classic seat. He has a fairly new '11 Street Glide and was taking a trip to the East coast back a few months ago and felt like he needed a more comfortable seat for the trip. After he came back he said that was a wise choice and the UC seat was very comfortable.
