Default Heads

Does anyone know if there are any physical differences between 05 bagger heads and a set of heads off a 03 SE 95" Dyna?

Do I know for a fact? No. But I would certainly hope that the SE 95" heads would be better than stock '05 88" heads. If you know someone in the parts department at your local dealer, see if the heads from the SE dyna are any different from a stock dyna. That probably will not confuse them too much and will at least get you started on your quest....

Sub~

THe 05's are different, but the 03's will fit on and work fine. THe 05's have the thinner valve stems and cheezy valve seals. They also have lighter springs.

I have had pre-05 heads (which were all the same) on my 05 after having them ported & polished.

THe 06's are even different from 05's, but can be used with 06 throttlebody flanges.

I don;t think the 03 S/E bikes actually had S/E haeds on them, but they may have. Either way, they will work on your 05.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking at a set of 03's that are for sale. If I get them I'm going to send them out to be ported and polished. Anything else you think I should have done to them?

Well.... You'll really want to determine what cams you wanna run and have the chambers sized to provide the optimal compression ratio for the cams. THis is a great opportunity to set it up so that all the components compliment each other.

I assume you already got the S/E flat-tops in it that came with the Stage II kit. If you're getting a good set of heads for it, them all you'd really be lacking is a sweet set of cams. THere are a ton of options that you'd like WAY better than 203's.

I think I'd spend a little time on the horn with the machine shop that will be doing your heads and discuss your goals and see what their recommendations are.
