Default Lower hd shocks on 2011 Electra glide?

I am about to put on the lower hd 12 inch shocks on my 2011 eg limited and I read about someone having steering and turning issues after swapping shocks. Was wondering if others have had that experience.?

Don't get the Air Shocks, at least get the Premium Ride Hand-Adjustable Rear Shocks

I put the -10 model shocks shown in the link below on my '09 Ultra and did not experience any issues.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

These shocks lowered the rear of my bike about a 1/2" or 3/4".

One advantage of these is that you don't have to worry about checking the air pressure any more. One downside is that if you want to adjust them such as when switching from riding solo to carrying a passenger, on my bike the left saddlebag needs to be removed. Adjusting the factory air shocks only requires opening the lid and adding or removing air.

If you install them yourself, you'll need a bike jack or lift of some type to raise and lower the rear tire to remove and replace the shocks.

Hope this helps.

I have the 09 and up Streetglide shocks on my 09 EG Classic.

Take offs from a SG rider, paid about $125

You'll notice the ride is stiffer.

due to the change in rake/trail the bike will be slightly more stable at speed, slightly less at low speeds- it's imperceptible, and this is the geometry on the stock streetglides ( while the rear alone can be lowered, lowering just the front is not advised- someone was asking about lowering just the front last week- maybe you saw that thread.)

I go back to stock shocks when touring, the SG shocks I use in town.

quick eask swap.

just release the air for the system before disconnecting the lines ( so the oil doesn't spray).

store the old shocks upright in case you want to reinstall.

I put SG shocks on my '10 EGC to see if I liked the lowered stance, and did the progressive front as well. Other than the shocks are crap on any rough road, I haven't found any reason why not to do it. For me, it handles slow, fast, and corners as well if not better than stock height. The lowered front is a must. Now a good set of rear shocks and it should be perfect.

lowering both front and rear retains near stock geometry, so near stock handling but for reduced cornering angle/clearance and suspension travel
