Where are ya Woodchuck? I'm in West Woodbury. Looks like one of the few final good weekends left for riding?

We complained about the rough VT roads but they sure are better than...nothing!
I ride 12 to 15K across this country and Canada. Can't say that I have found a bad road. Even in 09 on the Alaskan Highway it was nice. Every one from the year before and after has said it was in horrible condition.
Live in Illinois and have seen major improvement in the roads in the last two years. A lot of that borrowed Chinese money for the stimulus act must be spread around here.
Please come to Illinois! The potholes are nice and wallowed out, the pavement butt joints will cause instant loss of bladder control, the weeds haven't been mown all year, and as an added bonus, the overpopulation of deer is in full swing!!. Thank goodness I am just a short distance from Indiana and Kentucky where the roads are ten times better than this broken down heap of a state.......
The roads here in the Tampa Bay area are glass smooth, wide, & perfect. Too bad the drivers suck!
The worst roads I have ever seen were in NYC. You ain't experienced excitement until you've taken a bike on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, or the Cross-Bronx Expressway. Sorta like the roads in that little town at the end of "Saving Private Ryan"!
Just did a 1900 mile trip to Tx,Ark,Louisianna,Miss. & parts of middle & west Tn. and I'll take our roads in Tn. anyday. For the most part Tn. roads are pretty darn good. The I-40 in Ark. was one of the crappiest highways I've ever riden,it really beat on the bikes.
I-40 is getting bad again, but our S.H. are generally in pretty good shape. Just drove through LA: Shreveport to Ft Polk and over to Baton Rouge toward Mobile, AL. I couldn't believe how bad some of LA's state highways were! No doubt the worst in the states surrounding AR. The road from Ft Polk up to Natchiteous is unbelievable! Didn't see any bikes on it. (we were in a SUV)
I've traveled literaly all over the world in my almost 30 years in the Air Force...and I can tell you firsthand - the best roads I've ever seen are right here where I retired - Georgia... no other place even comes close....
IRT Deadliest Roads could be filmed in Arkansas.
Some of the roads have gotten in really bad shape because of the failing economy. No one will vote for more taxes and frankly I'm paying enough.
They are re surfacing a lot of roads now with that ( don't know what they call it ) gravel. They lay down oil then spread fine gravel over it and let the cars pack it down. I find these roads dangerous to 2 wheelers.
Now all the road jobs go to 'lowest bids' and the quality of work is 'lowest'
This used to be the best country, we set the standard that others wished they could follow. Now it's falling a part .. I won't get into a political debate over this but it's not going to get any better..
It's becoming a "Full Contact Sport" riding a motorcycle..

Rode on some roads like that on the way to BBB, was thinking about how much life it was taking out of my tires, like riding on a grinder.
Generally speaking our roads in the central Texas are pretty good and for the most part I would prefer secondary roads over the Interstates in terms of road quality here.
In August, I did a 3620 mile ride from Phoenix to L.A., up through the central valley to Crescent City, CA, then up the Oregon Coast to Coos Bay. Came back through the Bay Area, then the 101 south to San Fernando Valley, then back home on I-10.
The roads in AZ and Oregon are generally not too bad. Many of the roads in CA are in desperate need of resurfacing. The interstates weren't too bad, but the 101 north of the Bay Area was horrendous, as was Hwy 99 from Bakersfield north to Sacramento.
