Got my '11 RKC in June and have put almost 3k miles on it already and it's been extremely comfortable for my 6' frame and 250lb+ fat ***. I loved all the features that the RKC had with white walls, leather bags (don't like the look of the fiberglass ones), floorboards, cruise, windshield etc. The nostalgic styling is like no other HD model! Just friggin love it!
It's still pretty much stock, I hate the stock pipes but I'm gonna remove the cat and then replace the bars with 14'' apes and get the more comfy Kuryakyn iso grips on it soon. Later on, prolly get a heavy breather ac and saddlebag guard rails then I'm done. Bottom line, imo the RKC is a great way to go.
Good for you! You will enjoy the King and great color!
Thanks Port Dawg, I look forward to the new ride. The Limited is a nice bike just maybe too much bike for my needs. I think I will feel much more comfortable on the RKC. I have a feeling the stock windshield is too tall but I will either cut it down or order a new one. Any recommendations on an aftermarket shield?
Sundowner seat is well worth the money. Also consider the Road King High Bars (56180-08). Similar rise to the Heritage bars but a slightly different curve. I've had these on an 04, 07 (55954-00 for regular throttle) and now the '11.
I should get a good feel next weekend as to what I may need to do to it if anything. Got about a 500 to 600 mile trip planned from K.C. to Table Rock Lake down by Branson. Should be a good shake down ride. I already have the drivers backrest, extended floorboards, highway pegs and a few other goodies to transfer from my Limited. Dealer is selling me the passenger back rest for his cost so they are installing it for $0. No passenger this trip but I'm sure the seat will need to be changed.
How tall are you? I know this isn't a true barometer for windshield size due to torso length etc...I'm just under 6 foot and I can look over the shield if I sit straight up. I have tried 3 shields...the stock, a 19" LRS and the Klockwerks Billboard flare. For ME the stock shield ended up working the best.
Buffeting affects everyone differently and a lot has to do with type and size of helmet, no helmet etc...I added the triple tree baffle and the fork mounted lowers and I can cruise 85 with pretty calm air.....I don't sit straight up and I think the Street Glide seat I'm using sits a wee bit lower than the RK seat so I look a lot through the shield...I don't mind and if I need to I can sit up and look over
Enjoy it, you are gonna love it...Pretty nimble for a bike it's weight
