How tall are you? I know this isn't a true barometer for windshield size due to torso length etc...I'm just under 6 foot and I can look over the shield if I sit straight up. I have tried 3 shields...the stock, a 19" LRS and the Klockwerks Billboard flare. For ME the stock shield ended up working the best.
Buffeting affects everyone differently and a lot has to do with type and size of helmet, no helmet etc...I added the triple tree baffle and the fork mounted lowers and I can cruise 85 with pretty calm air.....I don't sit straight up and I think the Street Glide seat I'm using sits a wee bit lower than the RK seat so I look a lot through the shield...I don't mind and if I need to I can sit up and look over
Enjoy it, you are gonna love it...Pretty nimble for a bike it's weight
I'm right at 6', the older I get the shorter I get though. I rode my brothers 03 RKC and the windshield hit me right in the line of vision. I will try the stocker first, hopefully it will be fine.
I'm 5'11" and can see over my shield to the recommended 50' in front of the bike. Have to look thru the shield for anything up close. I haven't tried other shields, and probably won't. I got lucky with the stocker.
I'm at 3,100 and got it August 23rd. Whatcha been doing????
j/k
My bike is very comfortable and I just love it.
Mostly to and from work which is only about 40 miles round trip. I always work nights and weekends, so I'm never around to ride poker runs and bike nights and stuff (LEO). Just get my riding in when I can. Besides it's now starting to get real cold here which slows things down too.
6'2" and 215 and just bought the RKC on Saturday. After the test ride, I knew the stock seat had to go, so swapped it out for the Tall Boy (I have long legs). It is great. No complaint about the handlebars at this point, but I'm still getting used to the bike. I did a couple hours on Saturday (after I finished the purchase) and about 3 hours yesterday until my wife got cold. I love this bike already. It handles way better than I expected through the twisties and sweepers.
I can't wait to do a long day trip and really try it out!
On my 3rd King & love it. It's an '07, which I specifically wanted, 'cause I wanted the 96" 6 speed, but NOT the TBW. I don't like the "lag" in the TBW bikes & try as I might on the demo rides, I just couldn't get used to it. prefer a Classic 'cause I don't like the hard bags, unless the bike is black. Too much "paint" in the rear of the bike, between the bags, fender,& sidecovers.
