Great answer, thanks!! Should give me a bit more selection to choose from with those extra sizes.
Will there be any clearance issues if I went with the 150/80x16? Wider tire has some slight benefits...
The MU and 140/90 should go in without clearance problems. The 150/80 is less certain. I have one in my bike, with the later narrow belt, which gives plenty of clearance (its 1 1/8" wide, compared with 1 1/2"). I have read here on HDF of some owners getting them in together and others not managing to get one in.
150 wide tyres can vary in fitted width from around 150mm to 157mm. If you can measure the fitted width of your current tyre, also the clearance you have from tyre to belt guard also the bare belt, you can work out if you have enough clearance. Half the difference in those two widths is the minimum clearance you need, preferably more. IMHO you will need an absolute minimum of 3/8", preferably in excess of 1/2" to make it worth trying. You can trim the belt guard if necessary.
It is worth saying that where Harleys are concerned, doing things different to stock comes with mixed success! Some things like these tyres will be OK for some owners, but not work for others of us.
