Default Hand Grips

Hi there

Anyone fitted these hand grips to their bike? Part no. 56459-08 - Contoured Chrome and Rubber

Need some opinions before I go out and buy them.

Cheers

I had those on for a while. Comfortable but the end caps are just plastic and pop off easily. I knocked one off by accident one time and found that out.

Yeah, I started to get those, but they just weren't all that. I wound up getting the "Chrome and Rubber" large grips. The dealerships around here install things like that for free when you have your bike in getting serviced. I take advantage of that as it helps ease the sting of the service cost.

I looked at those along with performance machine contour grips. I then found Avon air cushioned grips, which is what I went with and they're great. I think I paid $43 for them. easy install.

Hi there
Could you "Silastic" these in place after installation to stop it happening?

Cheers

I put them on last winter, I liked the feel, in less than 1 year and about 10K miles, the rubber started getting gummy and wearing off, just replaced them with PM grips of a similar style, the PMs are 1.400", about .100" smaller diameter but they feel pretty good to me. Bonus is just replacing the $15.00 rubber inserts when they wear out, and all metal constuction as opposed to the chrome plated plastic HDs and Avons.

I wouldn't recommend the HDs, when for $20.00 more you can have these, just my experience though maybe they worked better for other folks.

Go to the electrical supply store an get so heat shrink tubing of the correct size to go over the grip and install with a heat gun. I did this to my heated grips that were sticky and the rubber turned my hands black three years ago. No problem so far.
