Finally going to upgrade the stereo in my Dead Center fairing. Using the RF PB300x4 for an amp and Polk MM651 UM Speakers. Still undecided about head unit.......Alpine or Sony.
My question is about wiring for the amp. Since I have a detach fairing I need to run a separate 10 ga hot wire to the amp and can't seem to find a water tight/ resistant quick disconnect coupling for when I remove the fairing. Been to several car audio places and Google hasn't been my friend.Has anyone else run into this problem or know where I might find such an animal?
Thanks, RR
I have a dragonfly fairing and wired it with no disconnect fittings don't plan on riding with out it but found some 10 gauge yellow heat shrink male and female spade disconnects at auto zone and advance auto
Finally going to upgrade the stereo in my Dead Center fairing. Using the RF PB300x4 for an amp and Polk MM651 UM Speakers.
I was told by Rockford Fosgate NOT to use the Polk MM speakers because they are 2.7 ohms.
The PBR300X4 "REQUIRES" 4 ohm speakers. They say it will overheat and damage the amp.
I ended up going with the db series polks, these are 4 ohm speakers.
Sierra,
The MM 651UM (Ultra Marine) are 4 ohm speakers. I did a lot of looking at the MM series and amps till I came across these. http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/sp...akers/mm651um/
The db series is what came with the fairing from Dead Center. They offer the MM651 2.7 ohm with Biketronics amps as an upgrade. The RF amp gives the ability to add another set of speakers later. What amp are you using with the db series? How's the sound? Any distortion problems?
Still looking for a quick disconnect option on a 10 ga power cable from anyone.
RR
get a good quality trailer 7-wire wiring harness. Use 4 of the 7 wires for power, use the remaining 3 for ground. Ground your amp as close to the fairing as possible. you don't want a ground wire running all the way back to the battery.
