Just ordered a set of Yaffe's 12 Monkey Bagger Bars for my 2010 SG. Need some help in the additional wire length needed for the switches to wire internally. Also what about the clutch and brake lines. Any help and experience is appreciated. I have been told this is a PITA with the PYO Bagger Bars.
I recently ordered the 12 monkey bars as well. Got the TBW extension kit and 8 in over stock for brake and clutch cables. I've read others say 6 in over cables is enough. I'd rather have them a little long than too short.
i put 11" santees on my bike a couple months ago and had about 4" of wire hanging out of the bars. routed the plugs under the radio and it was good to go. the santees are pretty close to being 12's so you should be pretty comparable.
There is no need to extend your wires with 12" bars. As SG Dave has said just re route you wiring harness in the fairing under your radio and you will have plenty of space. As far as clutch/brake. I went +8 Clutch and +6 brake and both work perfectly. I used http://magnumshielding.com/ cables and couldnt be happier.
Update
Bars are in and I could not be any happier with the way they look and the difference in the ride. I went with the Magnum clutch cable +8 and they breaklines +6 fit was perfect.
I did manage to break the volume control on the left switch, going to solder in a new switch.
I tried to go the wire reroute process and had too much difficulties and frustration getting the wire back into the plug afeter running it through the bars. Pulled the trigger and went to Namz and ordered their 12 inch wire kit for the switches and their plug and play TBW cable. From there it was a no brainier and had plenty of room to work with. I did end up soldering the TBW throttle wires instead of using the plug. The plug was damaged during the initial wire pull.
It is a PITA to pull the wire though but just take your time.
Thanks to all for thier suggestions
One of the best mods I have done. AWESOME!!!!!
