Default Fairing Mounted Mirrors

I saw those fairing Mounted mirrors at the dealer and was wondering how hard it would be to install. I assume you would need to split the fairing to install. Anyone ever do this?

Thanks

Mark

I have them on my ride, however I did not install them. All you have to do is pull the outer fairing, drill the mounting holes and bolt them on. I would guess the most challenging part of the job is making sure the holes are in the right place, and the same on both sides

Yes, you have to take the fairing off. Very easy job though. Probably 20 minutes total.

If you buy the kit, it has a template that you use to line up the holes. Taking the fairing apart is no problem at all. You will need a T-27 Torx bit to start.

Take the 3 bolts across the bottom of the windshield off.

Turn your handlebars all the way to one side or the other. Near the bottom of the fairing/fork bracket you will see two bolts about 6" from each other. They hold the bottom of the fairing together. Take those out.

I usually have someone help steady the fairing at this point (just to be safe), About 4-6" below the speaker on each side, you will see another set of bolts. Take those out and the outer fairing is now loose. Pull it up and out remembering the headlight wiring is plugged in and you are set.

The whole process took me a little over an hour (including beer break..lol)

Before you take those faring bolts out, remember to slip some gym socks over your spotlights. Protects the faring paint from being scratched and also protects the chrome on your spots. Cheap insurance.

Had mine off the SG probably close to a 100 times.

Leave the center windshield bolt in until last thing. Take all the others out, lay a towel over the front fender, take out that center bolt. Lay outer fairing on towel previously placed on fender, disconnect headlight and set outer fairing aside. Re-install in reverse order. It's an easy one man job.

Don't buy them from the dealer, I took a set in near perfect condition off my bike. I'll give them to you for the cost of shipping. PM me.
