spoke to hd hq 2 hours ago on recall ,must do
A dealer in Atlanta still had not known about this recall/update... I was shocked when I asked their service department today and they had no info on it. I pointed out the details and they said.. oh .. we'll look into that. GO FIGRUE!
so- are these MECHANICAL noises that are being remedied by COMPUTER SOFTWARE?
I know that if you contact a HD SD, most are quick and animate to point out that this is not a RECALL. However, when a manufacture admits that they will provide "a letter to all owners of record strongly recommending that they bring their motorcycle in for the calibration upgrade", I don't see how they could call it anything else. Don't get wrong, I love my bike and knew the risks of buying the first years release of a major component change but I expect HD to stand behind their products and keep their customers best interest at heart. I believe this is the first step in that direction. I've bought and received all service up to this point from Gator HD in Leesburg, FL and up this point ... I've been completely satisfied with them and their service department.
Just my $.02
are ypu being sarcastic or do you know something that we do not know .
would really like you to clarify this .
i took my 07 street glide back to the dealer yesterday and he is keeping it for 2 or 3 days to work on it when my turn comes .
as i posted at the first post ,i am not happy with the the way it rides . and you are right ,the new program calls for the bike to be ridden as before the 96 came out.
i have vibration issues that i will not accept.
before the recall the bike became super smooth as soon as i rolled on the throtle ......now i get vibrations thru the footpegs and handlebars from 900 rpm thru 2,000 rpm and then they diminish but are still there .
and at 85 mph on 6th or 5 th the vibes intensify a little and come in thru pegs and the seat .
the motor now feels more relaxed and before it was all bussiness and immediate response . the low end on start up rolling is now less powerful.
have ridden bike 450 miles after the ecm flash recall and these are my findings on my bike .
hd cuetomer service told me to take it back to dealer and to have him call a hd tech when working on my bike
ffb
My Dad just bought an 07 Ultra Classic...just found out about the recall through this website. I called the dealers in my area and none are offering the flash until we receive the OFFICIAL recall letter in the mail from HD? Then and only then can we schedual an appointment? What a bunch of crap!!![:@]
What bike do you have? What mods?

How do you think I feel, my wife bought my 2007 Ultra for my
birthday less then 3 months ago. I have put over 12,000 miles
on it in these 3 months and just got the flash now/yesterday...
And this is my first Harley in over 40 years of riding motorcycles
well over 1 million miles..
Before my 2 year warranty is up I figured I would have between
90,000 and 130,000 miles on it in those 2 years. Harley is in for
a real surprise if it won't stay together, because this guy rides
unlike 95% of Harleys customers!
I believe Harley will take care of all it's customers whole heartedly
for the money they get for these motorcycles. I guess we'll see in
a years time if my Ultra will stay together with my high mileage
riding habbits?
I wish all of the 2007 Harley owners the best with these motorcycles.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
and, just got the bike back from the dealer and i was told that the bike runs perfect .
that the download was done correctly ,and i guess they said tough luck if you do not like it the way it is.
so now my position is ,do i get rid of this bike and trade it in ,or try to put it back the way it was and consequences .
as the bike is i have no intention on riding it .
and i thought harley dealers were more consumer oriented than this.
very disapointed with harley and one of its dealers. and, i am a first time buyer coming in from sports and sports touring bikes
does anyone know if there is a way to reset the ecm to the original mode and ?????
Just got off the phone with my dealer... returning their call no less (guess some customer service departments are proactive and others don't even exist).
Their position - > I asked about the "Torque Smoothing Recalibration" (TSR) recall and they told me that the dealership has the option of either doing the ECM flash upgrade or returning the "recall card" stating an inspection has been done and no action was taken (hmmm.... it is a recall if there's a recall/warranty card generated now isn't it?) - The service manager (who I extend a little trust / and kudos to) was adamant that remapping the ECM with the SERT (after my upgrades) will effectively cancel out the TSR flash of the ECM anyway... no need to make 2 trips... now as soon as my True Duals arrive (next Monday) I'll get the scoot up to SFHD for the upgrades and be done with it.
I haven't had the noise issues (engine or tranny) on my CVO Ultra - but I'm pretty sure a lot of it has to do with the altitude here (A/F ratio)... we already run pretty lean at 5500 ft... (but yes, it still does run a lot hotter than my 03 RKC 95cu)
Bottom line - make sure your dealership handles the recall properly for your scoot. Oh, and it is just a download from the HD-Tech site, any dealership can get it and no it doesn't cost anything... if you're told otherwise, they're yanking your chain.
