Would slip-ons be too much without a tune.

So would adding just slip-ons, with it in this condition, cause more problems and make me break down for a tune. Right now, I don't want to do a stage 1, or any other tune on it. It's completely stock right now.

Should I have them check the factory tune at my next service since it's doing what it is doing?
Danny, pull your plugs out and look at them (in fact take a pic and let us/me see also). If just the electrode is whitish that's pretty normal (my stock bike is like that). I get an occassional pop on decel and that doesn't necessarily mean your too lean and that your gonna burn up a valve. You also have to remember S/Os will accentuate noise good or bad. If the dealership is willing to 'sniff' the exhaust for you let them and tell us what they told you (I for one am curious.) I don't see why a dealership couldn't flash the ECM to give just a pinch more fuel and is one thing I totally miss about carb's but there's a lot I don't miss.

I ran my 08 stock until just a few weeks ago. I put the A/C and slip-ons on and used the SEPRT to install a canned tune. I was shocked at how much better it runs. I would run not walk to Zanottis and buy a tuner. 15 mins and a laptop and the bike will act like a different animal. This bike now feels more like my Kaw 1000 that I had back in 1978. You have to hold on to the grips now.

I am looking for a new streetglide and hoping to find one with pipes and stage 1 kit already done to it, but if I don't what will all it all take to get new mufflers on it to make it sound better than stock. My 06 RoadKing Classic that i am trying to sell had rush mufflers on it when i bought it and nothing done to the motor. They looked great yet after 32,000 miles. Than I see some mufflers where they are blueing at a few thousand. I am wondering if there is a muffler out there to where you dont have to do anything to the air cleaner or the motor and still have it sound better than stock. I would like to just put mufflers on and be fine witht he bike and have it run good also. Thanks

I put an VIED on mine and the slight popping went away. The 'V' for variable can be adjusted to allow AF closer to the 13.8 range which is more than enough should it go towards the leaner end. Do a search and decide for yourself if an XIED is something you want to consider. Im gonna put slips on it this afternoon and not expecting any issues with mixture. Hell even the stealership will tell you a slipon wont change anything and they are the first to try and sell you something.

I would get a PCV or PV from Fuel Moto. It'll "grow" with your system as you make changes, and their customer service is outstanding.

If it's running lean now, have the dealer look at it before adding pipes. After it checks out, I would spend the few hundred dollars on a PCV or PV and have some piece of mind. And like mentioned, even the stock tune will really wake up your bike.
