I monitored ours on are last trip to Vegas, helpful to here when chp were hiding out. One thing I learned is they recognize channel 17 on north and south roadways and 19 on east and west roads or vice versa. Makes a big difference when you change freeways and all of a sudden there is no chatter.
Truckers don't talk on the cb like they used to. Most truckers are school trained and foreign now , most the others wont tell you nothing either even about cops.

Boy that's the truth! Still some old school truckers out there though.....if they're not on the cell phone! I run 19 when alone, and since the group I ride with sometimes is mostly old truckers, we run 19 then too. The winger's can usually be found on 1.
WOW I've had my 07 Ultra since it was born and still to this day don't know if it works.
Mine is an 11 and even though I turned it on, not sure it works. Haven't had it on the road turned on and where I live in the sticks, no chatter. Guess I'll find out next week.
I use mine all the time to talk to the wife on her Heritage.
Hog group uses channel 1. They can help or be a pain. Adjust your squelch like someone else said and it will be fine. Also set your Weather alert to activate if the NWS puts out an advisory. Have a great trip and let us know what you think when you get back.
One other thing, If you used a CB years ago in a car you probably got about 5 miles reception. don't expect that with these new units. About 1.5 to 2 miles is all I can get and I had the standing wave calibrated on both of mine.
