Interesting, I went to the HD site, and besides this recall (145), it shows a older (closed) recall (141)... but the 1 liner is so cryptic.
Anyone know what 141 was all about? I plan to harass the dealership because I wasn't notified of the recall - and it wasn't that long ago it was in for the 5k service.
141 referenced the front gas tank mounts where it attaches to the frame. Apparently in a front impact situation there is a chance of ignition... who would have thought?
Question is, was it replaced with the newer improved part or just another one of the same -51D switches? Look at the bulletin and then look at your switch to see what one was used.
I had a condenser unit replaced in my old Dodge Intrepid years ago a recall came out and the reimbursed me for the work. 6 or 7 months later the replacement unit failed. They wouldn't cover it saying they already covered it once. I couldn't get them to understand that they replaced the first unit with old stock of the faulty units... $700 bucks
Just got my switch replaced a few weeks ago. Brake light was staying on, or wouldn't come on at all when using brake pedal. Plus my cruise control would not work. All fixed up now.
Thanks much Dawg. I'll have the tank brackets done at the same time. I knew about it but I've been slacking..
