Probably a precurser question would be for those that have already replaced the switch, did they replace it with the same switch? If a new switch, what does it look like?

My understanding is the dealers don't have the new switch yet. Supposed to be shipped out this next week.

It's round with a electric plugin to your rear light. The switch sits just below and back from your transmission on the right side of the bike next to your exhaust pipe. The picture may not be the exact replacement but it is similar in scope.

I was at the dealer Friday, and from what I saw being changed out it looked the same, but I didn't compare the 2 side by side.
They are not exactly the same as the old one , but they look close.

Had mine replaced yesterday while getting the 1,000 service done on my 12' FLHTK. Took along with me the recall notice issued 10/20. The service writer already had the recall work added to my work order and said it would be taken care of.

Here is a photo of the new brake switch.

I had mine replaced last year under normal warranty cuz it was leaking and didnt activate the light. They replaced it with an identical switch. Again it was last year before the recall.

I didn't think dealerships had the new switches yet? Are you sure its not the same switch, I see no discernible difference?.

Did not ask if it was a "New" switch or just the same old one they replaced it with.

There is a drawing and description listed on the Recall Flier issued by Harley.
The flier states "Rear Stop Light Switch Identification: Sharp Edges re Gone On New Switch".
Here is the location for the pdf file showing the new switch (That will not begin to be shipped until the week of Oct. 25, 2011).

No. That is an automotive switch.

The switch in the pic is the old version. The new switch has shaved edges where you put a wrench on it.There is a pic of it in the recall notice that was posted by dawg.I was at the dealer yesterday and of the 6-7 touring bikes there, there was only one with the new switch.
