Installed my American custom Powerflex head pipe this morning. What a difference. Really woke up my rush big Louie mufflers and the heat buildup is GONE!!! Bike is running great I can not believe what a difference getting rid of the CAT in the head pipe makes.
JJPish, how about a video so that we can hear what it sounds like during start-up, idling, and under some throttle? Thanks in advance, how do you like the quality of the pipe itself?
The head pipe is a stock HD headpipe so the quality is just that. What they do is take a stock head pipe from a 10-12 and remove the CAT and put the "Powerflex" in the chamber then weld it back up. When you receive it you use all of your hardware and heat shields then return your head pipe for $100 refund and they do it all over again.
I dont have the ability to video at this time but that would be subjective at best. In my case I have Rush Big Louies that I modified the baffles in. They were dead sounding with the CAT and now they have a nice deep rumble and a good bark when you jump on it. And the heat is gone...
I have no idea you would have to contact American Customs and ask them that. I am just a happy satisfied customer. Dont work for them, never met them, just know I called talked to them they shipped it out the same day and I had it 2 days later. Others on this forum said they had it and liked it and they told me on the phone I would be happy with it and I am.
I also went with the American Customs full set up consisting of the header with the Power Flex and the Bomber mufflers on my 2011 FLHX103. I love the sound and got some performance as well. The OP is right, they use factory exhaust and modify it, so as far as pics, just take a look at the factory exhaust on a stock bike. You can also get an idea of sound from the American Customs website or there a few videos on youtube. Just type in American Thunder Exhaust.
The install was easy me and my 15 year old son worked on it together less than 2 hours from gathering the needed tools to putting the tools away. I think we were gone on the test ride as long as it took to install.
After working on this together yesterday he asked if we could look for an old Triumph that needs some lovin so we could build it for him.
