Default Dealer parts orders

Bikes in at the dealer getting the heads redone [burnt exhuast valve].
Been there 3 weeks this next tuesday.
I've check on it a couple of time. Same story, had to order parts.
This last time I asked from where, CHINA?
They tell me they only order part on tuesdays.

Is this the norm for dealer repairs?
Or just this out fit.

Not much I can do about it but waite, it's all apart on the lift.

I worked at a dealer in 01&02 and we put a order through every day or 2 depending how big. The parts dept can run a locator and see what dealer has the part also. If that was my bike I would be calling everyday. Or tell them to give you a loner bike, I have got that before.

Several dealers nowadays do only place orders from the MOCO when they have enough parts. The reason being is they get free shipping when they have a certain amount ($1000 dealer net cost on the parts). They have what they call trade orders and regular orders. The dealers that do not do enough business end up screwing over the customer in a waiting game when they play this way.

Local dealer hardly stocks parts. When I go looking for a part they tell me they will have to special order it for me. Wanting me to pay upfront for the part & shipping. I tell them not to bother, I will just ride down to the next dealer & pick it up! I usually just get a fuuny look from them.

I worked at a dealership, who cares about free shipping, its all about getting the customer up & running. I guess at some dealers its all about the almighty dollar.

Well thanks. I was wondering how others did this.
This dealer is about 3 miles from home but they just lost me to
another dealer about 30 mile away.
Tobad to being that close to home.
Thanks again
